Black Panther notes
- Marvel is a subsidiary of Walt Disney, which is a global conglomerate
- Disney always aims to create 360 degree marketing campaigns for their films to really ensure all audiences are familiar with their films
- Disney worked with Hasbro (toy company) on synergetic products to create toys/action figures for the film
- Action figures and toys are great ways of targeting young children and family
- Disney partnered up with the car company Lexus where they released limited editioned cars during the release of Black Panther and every time they advertised the car they'd be advertising the film as well
- The Lexus partnership was a great way of targeting the more older men audiences who are interested in technology and status
- Marvel released a soundtrack with Disney and Kendrick Lamar targeting his fans and also mostly young black males
- Disney produced several trailers for this film which was released online, tv and cinemas
- The trailer was also broadcasted and advertised at the American Super Bowl event, one of the most expensive advertising slots in the world
- Advertising at the Super bowl was an excellent idea as it was a great way to gain an immense amount of publicity and global mass audiences
- The film was released during Black history month, meaning that the release was marketed as a 'cultural event' to celebrate black culture
- Members of the public did create a crowd funded 'black panther challenge' to help raise money for tickets for young children and their families
- These crowd funding campaigns were shared online and in the media and so they acted as an unofficial marketing for the film
- Disney worked with New York fashion week to create a 'welcome to Wakanda' fashion catwalk show, displaying costumes inspired by the film
- The fashion catwalk was a good idea at grasping on to a global and national publicity, also targeting the female audience
- YouTube was used as a great global marketing tool, allowing fans to share, comment, like, etc
- Actors taking part on talk shows and other tv programmes is another great way of advertising the film
- Famous conventions like Comic-con are a great way of targeting the audience of "super fans"
