Genre Research
Performance mainly focuses on the artist or band performing either on their own or in front of a crowd/audience. There isn't any type of storylines, mostly just a big mixture of different camera angles altogether. A good example of a performance music video would be 'Love on Top' by Beyonce where there is a lot of dancers/performances dancing alongside the artist herself.
Story (story driven) is where they follow a storyline throughout the music video. There are two types of storylines, linear and fragmented. Linear story is where they follow a standard, normal storyline structure such as beginning, middle and end. Fragmented is where there is no standard storyline but it portrays the lyrics from the song through the music video.
Dance is normally where the artist and the performers/dancers will be dancing a certain type of choreography which was specially made for the song, in either one location or multiple different locations. A lot of time and effort is specifically put in into these kind of videos due to the time needed to make the choreography, matching each dance move to the beat and rhythm of the song, etc.
Animation is where they use fast movements and a lot of photographs and frames whether it is digitally made or manually put in with props, etc.
Browser is where they make the music video very interactive with they're audience. It is a updated new addition where creators have to have a certain type of skill to be able to create new edits or special effects which draw in more people to watch they're music video and gets more fans for that certain band/artist.

what record labels tend to produce artists in those particular genres?
In the music video industry, we see all kinds of different ways a music video can be made. The most popular record label that is very well known in this industry is VEVO, an American record label that is well known for providing numerous music videos as well as some phenomenal independent record labels. VEVO is known for doing all kinds of different genres in the music video industry, the majority of the videos I chose were made by VEVO.
who is the target audience for those genres? (what demograhic is mostly consuming that genre/downloading/watching on Youtube etc
The three genres I chose was performance, dance and story. All the music videos I chose above are mainly the type of music young/middle aged people listen to. Regarding the video, the target audience is well seen to be mostly teens and/or young adults/adults. The type of dances, performances and storyline the music videos have, it is quite obvious that it would attract the younger generation of this time.
How the brand/Artist represent themselves on album covers
The album for the song 'Single ladies shows the artist, Beyonce, in a stance where it is like she's posing for a camera, like a model. This helps attract young people, mostly girls. Young girls love to copy and follow they're inspiration and knowing Beyonce, she is an inspiration to a lot of young people. Beyonce represents her face the most in this album cover. This can help attract a lot more fans and viewers for her album. In this album cover for the song 'Run the world' by Beyonce shows Beyonce, again standing in a modelling pose.
This cover for 'CAN'T STOP THIS FEELING!' was made to match the theme from the movie. This song by Justin Timberlake was made for the animated movie 'Trolls'. Seeing Justin Timberlake on the front cover and seeing a little troll on his shoulder can attract a lot of different aged people, especially families with young children since this movie was made for young kids.
Katy Perry's album for her song 'Last Friday night' brings a lot of color and fantasy out of it. Her face as well really does pop out from the album, it is very visible that she is the main artist in the song, and this as well attracts fans to her new album at that time since her well known face is the main thing standing out.
What cross-media-convergence opportunities have been utilised for those artists/ bands in those genres? (newspaper / magazine articles / front covers / TV interviews with celebrity shows / news media)?
For all 3 genres I chose, cross-media-convergence was utilized very well by the artists and record labels they worked with. Each song was advertised on magazine articles, front covers, social media, ads on TV and YouTube, etc. These cross-media-convergences help produce more listeners and viewers for these artists as well advertises the song/new album really well into the world. This way, all kinds of different people from different countries can enjoy watching/listening to these songs and their music videos and it on the other hand, helps gain more and more fans for that certain artist/band.
